S10 T5 Transmission Jeep Shaft Swap - DIY and skip the adapter plate.
A T5 transmission from an S10 truck is a great upgrade for an older Chevy car or truck. Vendors sell aluminum adapter plates that allow the S10 transmission to bolt right on to a cast iron Chevy V8 bell housing. It works well.
As an alternative, here's a way to modify the S10 T5 transmission so that you won't need an adapter plate. It costs less than the adapter plate and allows you to use your original 10 spline clutch kit.
**Note** This conversion is only for Chevy S10 and GMC S15 T5 transmissions. The input shaft must have 21 gear teeth for this conversion to work. Do NOT perform this conversion on a T5 from an Astro Van, Safari Van, or V8 Camaro T5.
This first video is 30 minutes but shows every detail with all of the tips I know to help you do the swap.

The WC Jeep shaft shown in the slide show below is no longer available. Don't worry, because you can use a NWC Jeep input shaft in a WC S10 T5 as long as the 21 gear teeth match. That's right! Just remove the WC S10 input shaft and the fiber lined synchro ring and then replace them with a NWC Jeep shaft AND A BRASS SYNCHRO RING with small notches.
Here's a step by step slide show explaining how to swap the input shaft. The slide show uses a WC S10 T5, but the procedure is the same for a NWC S10 T5.
