This 283ci SBC was rebuilt by Jasper. The casting marks indicate it's a 1967 block. It sat in a trailer wrapped in plastic. It's been fun investigating the history and decoding the casting marks.
The block casting shows it's a 1967.
The block has the correct bosses for SBC side engine mounts.

The 283 SBC doesn't have threads in the crankshaft. I used a kit to drill and then tap threads in the end of the crank. It will make installing the harmonic balancer easy.
The heads have different casting marks. I'm not sure if that will be an issue or not.
I looked inside the cylinders with a bore scope. The pistons indicate the cylinders are bored 0.040 oversize. There is some light flash rust on the cylinder walls because the spark plug holes were left open while in storage.
The valves look about the same. It should not be a problem.
