DIY All Cable Park Brake Upgrade for 1963-1972 C10 Trucks
Upgrading the park brake system in a 1963-1965 Chevy C10 truck is easy. The cable system allows more room to access the the driveline components when needed. This style park brake system was used in Chevy C10 trucks from 1966 through 1972.

SWING ARM BRACKET CLIPS - You will need 2 clips. These hold the REAR CABLE in the SWING ARM BRACKETS. The AC Delco REAR BRAKE CABLES had a new clip included in the packaging. Factory clips have little rabbit ears. Other clip designs might work fine too.
New clips were INCLUDED in the packaging with the AC Delco REAR BRAKE CABLES. If you need to buy clips separately, then here are some options. Truck and Car Shop Part # 66-15520 (Packet of 3 clips - so you will have an extra clip.) Ebay sells them too - Search Parking Brake Clips. |

There is approximately 22" from the center of the front swing arm bolt and the rear edge of the SWING ARM BRACKET.

Identify the Ebrake cable on the DS of the frame. Pass the anchor rod through the PS frame hole.
My AC Delco cables needed a few coils removed from the spring because it was longer than the factory spring.
Install the new REAR BRAKE CABLES. Push the retaining clip into the hole in the backing plate.
Clip the SWING ARM BRACKET to the REAR CABLE. Then pull the cable tight to find and mark the proper location on the swing arm to drill a hole for the bracket. Start with a small drill bit and work up to finish with a 1/2" hole. There is approximately 22" from the rear edge of the SWING ARM BRACKET and the CENTER of the front swing arm bolt.
