New brake booster and master cylinder means better brakes! I recently removed and rebuilt my 1963 steering column. It's back in the truck! New steering box and steering coupler too!

Hello awesome blog you have here. I've got a t5 from a 96 s 10 and want to install it in my 65 Pontiac Laurentian. I used a 14 spline clutch disc. Before installing the flywheel and clutch I installed the trans to mark my floor for the shifter , now I can't bolt the trans to the block, I think I have to cut the shaft that the throw out bearing rides on, any idea as to what the lengthy should be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks mike

Jay this my first t5 rebuild your web sight is great, I can't figure out how to remove the cluster gear bearing, all I see is removal of the ones with the bearing outside the case, mine is flush with the rear case, you didn't show how you removed yours, any help would be great.

Thanks so much. Your blog is awesome. I've learned so much. I am about to replace upper and lower steering column bearings and rebuild the rag joint. You went to power steering and a collapsible intermediate shaft. 1. Did you consider collapsible double U joint intermediate vs, collapsible with new rag joint? 2. Did you consider Rack and Pinion vs new steering gear box with power steering?

Ron,Sorry for the late response to your questions.I converted my 1965 C10 to power steering using a frame bracket from CaptainFab. Many others have used his brackets and I was just doing what others have already done. I noticed that the geometry of the steering shaft changes slightly because the power steering box shaft is about 5/8" further away from the frame than the factory steering box was. The U-joint I used serves 2 purposes. It allows me to connect the original steering shaft to the DD telescoping intermediate shaft and it relieves any stress on the lower bearing of the steering column that was caused by the change in geometry.
