This engine run stand is very versatile and folds up small for compact storage against the wall in my shop. I can assemble the stand pieces in about 10 minutes. I've personally used it to test inline 6 cylinder engines, a small block Chevy 283ci and an LM7 engine. It's versatile enough to also run BBC and Ford engines too.

I prefer to run an engine on this run stand BEFORE I install it in a vehicle. That way I can fix any fluid leaks, and make needed adjustments FIRST, rather than finding out there's a problem AFTER putting the engine in the vehicle. The stand allows me access to all critical areas of the engine, especially areas that would be too tight if the engine was already in the vehicle. Carburetor and timing adjustments are easy and I can monitor all the gauges at the instrument panel.
These photos show how it looks when folded up for storage. It takes up less shop space than my engine hoist. Legs telescope for extra stability if needed.
