These Chevy bolt pattern aluminum slotted mags are gonna look great on my truck and give it an old school look. They need to be polished so I did a test area just to see, and they will polish up very nicely.
I'm waiting for some new belts for the compressor. Meanwhile, I went shopping for parts and came up with some nice deals. These Chevy bolt pattern aluminum slotted mags are gonna look great on my truck and give it an old school look. They need to be polished so I did a test area just to see, and they will polish up very nicely. I bought a really, really nice GMC hood. It is in AMAZING condition. The lower flange is NOT rusted through and all it needs is a good sanding. Someone had applied some epoxy primer on 1/3 of the hood, but the metal is in superb condition. Just a few dings to repair. I also bought a C60 grille off the front of a bus. The center section doesn't have the mesh like the C10 grille but it is exactly the same shape and will bolt right on to a C10 or C20 if you want a different look than the average C10 truck. The CHEVROLET badge above the grille is riveted on and can be easily removed. I bought a Yankee Turnflex turnsignal switch. Very old school. I will eventually sell it.

The compressor I bought runs but needs new parts like air filters and new belts. Repairs should not take long. A rather minor thing, but today I installed new upper and lower radiator hoses. The lower hose was a perfect fit. The upper hose needed a small trim, but was also a perfect fit. The upper hose was ordered from Summit Racing and is a Goodyear # 60017. I bought the lower hose locally at NAPA, part # 7133 I decided to slide the 400 lb. compressor off the pickup and onto my utility cart rather than use a hoist. I just raised the trailer up with jack stands. Once the compressor was on the trailer, I used a 2X4 as leverage to lift the trailer and kicked out the jack stands. A lot less trouble that way.
I've added some nice charts to the T5 Info Page. The charts show how different gearing combinations work together with different rear differentials. Take a look. You will see the charts about 2/3 the way down the T5 Info Page. Leave a comment if you think they are helpful.
I've been busy buying and selling parts to earn cash to fund my truck project, so I have not posted much lately. I also finalized a deal on a used compressor. It will handle any air tool I can throw at it. It has a 2 stage pump and makes 175 PSI and can produce about 17 CFM. I'll need to put a regulator on it and things like a water trap and a new hose. It needs a bath too.
Here are some photos showing the differences between the fan shrouds of the 1965 230ci radiator and the 1966 250ci radiator.
I've had trouble finding the right upper radiator hose for my '66 parts truck Harrison radiator. It has a flex hose on it now but I'd like a molded hose. I'm not sure if the radiator is original to the '66 truck or not. It's wider than the '65 Harrison radiator, but not as tall. I managed to find the correct lower hose today by asking for a 230ci lower radiator hose. I have ordered what I hope is the correct molded upper hose.
