My goal was to make everything in the engine bay look brand new. The transmission and drive shaft were given a fresh coat of paint too.
Out with the 1972 250ci.
Clean and paint the engine bay. Clean and paint the transmission and driveshaft. Install the rebuilt 1963 230ci. New exhaust coming soon. Then I'll clean and paint the underside of the hood and install new wiring. I removed my 1965 Rochester B carb and swapped it for another one. My 1965 carb was rebuilt 6 years ago, but started leaking. I'll send it back for throttle shaft bushings, or perhaps it just needs a new lower body gasket. It took about 10 minutes to get the engine warmed and this spare carb dialed in. Idle is smooth at 500 RPMs and she starts right up. The truck has a NEW American Autowire Classic Update Kit. These wire sleeves are terrific. Bare wires need protection.
The 65 C10 is getting new front ball joints. The old ones were not worn out, but the rubber boots were rotten. Rear axle cover seal was changed because of a slow leak. The lift made the job pretty simple. Triple gauges are wired up and working. I just need to tidy up the wiring. After sealing up a coolant leak, I adjusted the PS and alternator pulleys for better belt alignment. Watch this video. Video of an engine I bought. 1963 230ci that appears to have been rebuilt. The 1963 is looking better. Just upgraded the brakes to a dual master cylinder. I added a brake bias to the rear lines too. The shop wiring is done. Just need to connect the power lines to the house meter. I tested the shop lights with temporary power.
The interior shop walls are done. The electrician will add power to the shop by mid February. Ceiling insulation will be added this summer. Watch the video for a quick tour of the shop. |
